Standing in Faith: Preparing Your High Schooler for a Life of Faith in College
As parents, you’re probably doing a great job preparing your kids academically for what comes next after high school. You’ve been focused on ensuring their grades are strong, they’re involved in extra-curriculars, active at church and have a good group of friends. While these are all well-intended and important elements, they may also not be enough.
How have you helped your kids prepare emotionally for college? Is your son or daughter ready to find their own way, create a new support system, take the right risks and make the life choices you know are best for them?
In this engaging conversation, David will lead you through steps you can take to connect your son or daughter’s success in high school to a path lead by faith in college. You’ll learn how to have more powerful conversations, ask more supportive questions and focus on helping your soon-to-be college student build a life of meaning for themselves by furthering their own faith journey.
After this session, you will be better able to:
Understand the potential pitfalls that occur in the transition to college
Utilize tactical strategies to overcome those challenges with your son or daughter
Recognize the importance of community and how you help your son or daughter develop it for themselves
Encourage your son or daughter to reflect on high school experiences and in order to more effectively find their footing in college
Honor God and honor the journey of your young adult as they experience a new life chapter

Waking Up: Designing Life in College On Your Terms (and with God’s help)
As your college experiences start to unfold, you may feel like you’re on the top of the world. New friends, new surroundings and ultimate freedom. Sound like you?
You may also feel the opposite—scared, alone, and unsure of how to excel in this new environment. New rules, new risks… and still, ultimate freedom.
In this interactive conversation, David will help you learn to respectfully establish your independence from your family unit while still honoring God and your parents. You’ll learn how to take thoughtful risks that propel you into the future in a compelling way. You will understand how to make your college experiences more about learning and living, instead of being focused on the pre-programmed path you may have felt like you had to follow when you left home.
After this session, you’ll be ready to:
Determine the next steps in your future that both honor God and your family of origin
Know how to walk in faith and trust that God will show you the next move when the time is right
Chart your own course for college that allows you to create an identity and foundation for your life that you’re proud of
